Color indicating silica gel is designed to change color from blue to pink when it reaches its capacity for moisture absorption.
Silica gel beads can be reactivated over and over - so you save money and reduce packaging waste. The indicating color beads will turn pink when they need to be reactivated. Just remove the fabric pouch containing the silica gel beads and place the whole pouch in a 200º F oven for 3 hours or until the beads turn blue again.
Color indicating silica gel will change from blue to pink when it has reached its capacity for moisture absorption. Silica gel effectively reduces the risk of rust and bacteria damage by removing excess moisture. Silica gel can absorb up to 40% of its weight in water vapor at 100% humidity. It has the highest capacity of any commercial desiccant for moisture absorption.
